New Entrance

    The new Board of Directors decided that an entrance to Graceland Cemetery from Highway 14 By-Pass would be of great utility.  Originally, the only entrances to the cemetery were from Graceland Avenue, a heavily populated residential area.

    The property between the cemetery and the highway was owned by members of the Edwards family, whose ancestor W. W. Edwards was instrumental in establishing the cemetery in 1908.  Those members of the Edwards family very graciously donated a right-of-way over their land from Highway 14 By-Pass to the cemetery, thereby making it possible for the Board to build a new entrance into the cemetery.

    This new entrance was completed in 2003, and is now in use.  The new entrance, named "Dear Lane," is adjacent to the white fence in the following picture:
